Hey there! I actually had and I was trying to stay out of it, but now my Ask box is full of shit about it, so here’s my blanket answer to everyone:

I think you’re confusing a comic portraying my personal experience with a social mandate.

My personal experience shopping at the stores that are nearby have been that the women’s fashions are loud, badly made and uncomfortable. My personal opinion is that most women’s clothing is ugly. But hey, if you like it, go with it!

My best friend wears jeggings, aviators and loud tank tops. Y’know what? I don’t look at her and go ‘ew gross’, I just stick to my t-shirt and jeans because that’s what I personally prefer, and I know a lot of women shop in the men’s section for that exact reason. Everyone has an opinion about fashion - things they like or hate about it - I was just expressing mine. If it differs from yours, you’re not obligated to change your fashion completely to suit me. Wear what ya like!

If there’s something to be taken away from all of the debating, it isn’t that one fashion choice is right or wrong, it’s that women are obviously craving more variety and better quality. Most stores offer a very limited range of styles, so it’s become an ordeal to track down the right thing for most.

I hope that clears up what I was trying to make a lighthearted comic about! Boo… ..yah?

hm you know i think that a large part of the reason that the “i always knew/i was always different” narrative of trans experiences is so popular and widely spread is that it’s comforting to cis people

when a trans person tells a cis person that they always knew they were different, the cis person can feel comforted knowing that that’s not their experience; they’re not a budding trans person, they’re Safe

whereas when a trans person tells a cis person that “well you know i never really knew; it was just something that came up” the cis person doesn’t have that buffer; if it Just Happened to someone else, why couldn’t it Just Happen to them? there goes their security; this trans person hasn’t been Different all their lives, was always as Normal as the cis person, but then they weren’t. maybe Cis Person is actually just like Trans Person, but they just don’t know it yet. whoa. scary.

so cis people reject that idea, because no way in hell are THEY ever going to be Like That. and i think that’s a large part of why people who don’t say it’s something they’ve always known are shamed and told that they’re not trans enough, not really trans, just faking it. in reality all trans experiences are equally valid, but in this system of hierarchy only certain trans experiences are allowed to be exposed to the world at large.

The above commentary is absolutely amazing. There’s no wrong way to come by your identity, even if that means it’s later in life or changes throughout its course. It’s not a points-based system and you don’t get grandfathered into identities.

Well, thank you, first of all. Secondly, to answer your question… I think comments like that are way over the edge of Batshit Cliff. Mostly because it doesn’t differentiate “hateful” or “intolerant” people from just… people that identify with their sex? That seems highly problematic. Also, the sentiment that people who don’t follow your exact lifestyle should perish seems like a pot calling the kettle black sort of situation. Why make enemies out of an entire group of people, the vast majority of whom aren’t the least bit against you in the first place?
