Who Wasn't There: First Gay President?
I couldn’t have said it better myself. Please, news people, don’t cheapen a nice thing by sensationalizing and misrepresenting it.
Stuff I draw and other nonsense.

Well President Obama just won Ohio!!! Congrats ladies!!!
We saw it on NBC just now, and literally jumped and hugged each other for joy. There might have been tears.
It’s really not about petty parties, it’s about equal rights. For me. For my wife. For everyone that wants to be treated as a person. This has been a huge victory for civil rights, both in the preservation of them and their advancement in the future.
Thanks to everyone who voted for keeping our rights intact. I can’t thank you enough.

Im aware, but celebrating something important to my rights as an individual is hard to swallow when someone is poo-pooing it. Im not saying Obama is perfect, Im just saying hes guaranteed Ill be…
I realize that it seems worldly and possibly even edgy to interject some criticism into this atmosphere of celebration. Of course the Democrat party, and even Obama himself, is not perfect. Was Clinton, celebrated as he is now, perfect in his presidency? Of course not, yet he’s still respected and admired to this day for the positive, lasting impact he had. What we’re celebrating is what can be, what wouldn’t have been if the other choice had been made. Romney represented hate, ignorance, and a blatant disrespect for America’s middle class, not to say anything about women, the LGBTQ community, and anyone who wasn’t a rich, upper-class white male at all. We have a long way to go, and no one’s going to forget about past deeds, but these shouldn’t outweigh what could’ve been.
In my opinion, this term is going to be significant. We’re going to see an Obama that isn’t concerned about his political career. He won’t hedge, because what has he to lose? Every president has pressure to bow to certain agendas during their careers, but the second term is a go-for-broke scenario. Think back to what Clinton achieved or (god help us) what Bush pulled during their second terms. What do we have to look forward to with Obama? I hope only bigger and more amazing things. No president will ever be perfect, but they can still be world-changing.
